Press Release

TSUNAMI RELIEF EFFORTS

The tsunami that hit the Pacific Island nations of Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga on September 29, 2009 left devastation and utter destruction.

The PWWA Appeal aims to help with the Water Supply & Sanitation Repairs at the three Pacific Islands.  Many donations have been received through the individual Governments towards the general needs. However, we have realized that PWWA has a specific responsibility and obligation through our members, and that is to return the water supply services as soon as possible.  Four(4) PWWA Active Members have been tasked with urgent response to the water supply shortage as a result of the tsunami. The four(4) Active Members are

1.      Samoa Water Authority

2.      Independent Water Schemes Association Samoa

3.      American Samoa Power Authority

4.      Tonga Water Board

We do appreciate your help, no matter how great or small.  If you wish to make a monetary donation, you can either TT directly to the Secretariat (please email taatele@kew.com.ws for account details) or send directly to the Utility. We will try and get details of the Account Numbers of our four Active Members mentioned above as soon as possible.

We would like to thank all who had assisted thus far and hope that we receive more support for the recovery efforts in Samoa, Tonga and American Samoa.
